Moodle Archive Site 2012-2013
by Moodle News - Monday, 18 November 2013, 10:16 AM

This site is an archive site dedicated to units delivered during the 2012-13 academic year.

Activities and resources in this site are still viewable by students and staff but changes to them can now only be made by administrators (via

Here's a run down of the changes by role:

Lecturers, OCDs and University Admin Staff can no longer:

  • Add activities or resources (the add an activity or resource link is not visible at all)
  • Edit existing activities or resources
  • Create/Reply/Edit forum posts
  • Enter chat rooms
  • Receive email alerts of any kind

Students can no longer:

  • Create/Reply/Edit forum posts
  • Submit Assignments (core or Turnitin)
  • Enter chat rooms
  • Receive email alerts of any kind

Students can still attempt quizzes and the results will be stored in the gradebook.
It's also worth pointing out that amendments can still be made to Turnitin assignment via the website by authorised staff members.

Amendments to the Archive:

Changes to the archive by staff must now be forwarded to for actioning. We envisage very few changes needing to be made to this site as the Archive should remain as close to it's active state as possible.

Email Alerts:

Email alerts from the archive have been switched off completely, however, the messaging preferences page could potentially be a little confusing for users. A note has been placed at the top of the page to alert users of changes (please see screenshot below).

If you have any questions about the changes above, please drop eLearn a line. It's the first time we've made Moodle read-only in this way so if you spot anything not working quite as expected, please let us know.
